Description

Chemical Composition

The main component is aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃), with a purity usually ranging from 90% to 99%, and low impurity content (mainly containing SiO₂, Fe₂O₃, Na₂O, etc.). The higher the purity, the better the performance.

01

Crystal Structure

White fused alumina belongs to the α-Al₂O₃ crystal structure, with a hexagonal close-packed lattice, a dense structure, and strong stability.

02

Appearance

In its natural state, it is white particles or powder. After being crushed, it presents angular shapes, with rough particle surfaces, which are conducive to combining with other materials.

03

Physical Properties

The Mohs hardness is 9.0 (second only to diamond and silicon carbide), the density is approximately 3.9-4.0 g/cm³, the refractory temperature is as high as above 1800℃, the thermal conductivity is good, and the thermal expansion coefficient is small.

White Fused Alumina Has Performance Advantages As Below

High hardness and wear resistance

The hardness is second only to diamond and silicon carbide, with excellent wear resistance. It is suitable for material grinding, polishing and other processing.

01

High temperature stability

High refractoriness, does not soften or decompose at high temperatures, and has good thermal shock stability (anti-thermal shock performance), suitable for high-temperature environments.

02

Chemical stability

Strong resistance to corrosive media such as acids and alkalis, does not react with most metal oxides (except strong alkalis and hydrofluoric acid).

03

Insulation

Has good electrical insulation performance, can be used as insulation components in the electronics industry.

04

Non-magnetic

Does not contain magnetic substances, suitable for scenarios sensitive to magnetism (such as precision instrument processing).

White Fused Alumina Main Applications

The uses of white corundum cover various fields such as abrasives, refractory materials, ceramics, etc. The details are as follows:

In the field of abrasives

This is the main application area of white corundum. By taking advantage of its high hardness and wear resistance, various abrasive tools and products can be made

01

Consolidated abrasives

Such as grinding wheels, grinding stones, grinding discs, etc., used for grinding, polishing, and deburring of materials like steel (such as stainless steel, carbon steel), ceramics, glass, and stone, especially suitable for precision processing (such as tool edge grinding, bearing polishing).

02

Coated abrasives

Such as sandpaper, sand cloth, sand belts, etc., used for fine grinding of wood and metal surfaces, or polishing in the automotive and furniture industries.

03

Free abrasives

Such as grinding powder, sandblasting abrasives, used for rust removal and oxide layer removal of metal surfaces, or polishing of glass and jade, as well as precise cleaning of aerospace components.

white fuse alumina application

1

In the field of refractory materials: White fused Alumina can be used as the core raw material of high-alumina refractory materials, and is used to produce shaped or non-shaped refractory materials

① Shaped refractory materials: such as white corundum bricks, used as the inner lining of high-temperature kilns (such as ceramic kilns, glass kilns, electroceramic kilns), to withstand high-temperature flames and material erosion.

② Non-shaped refractory materials: such as white corundum molding materials, plastic materials, used in the steel ladles and intermediate ladles of the metallurgical industry, or the inner lining of high-temperature reaction vessels in the chemical industry, to improve the high-temperature resistance and slag resistance of the materials.

2

In the fields of ceramics and electronics

① High-purity White fused Alumina can be used to produce high-temperature structural ceramics (such as wear-resistant ceramic linings, ceramic tools), or electronic ceramics (such as integrated circuit substrates, insulating porcelain parts), taking advantage of its insulating and chemical stability.

② In the field of electronic packaging, it can be used as a filler to improve the thermal conductivity and high-temperature resistance of packaging materials.

3

① Sandblasting for rust removal: White fused Alumina used for surface treatment of large steel structures such as ships and bridges, to remove rust and old coatings, preparing for subsequent painting.

② Functional materials: such as White fused Alumina making abrasive tools and binders for abrasive tools, advanced refractory concrete, or as catalyst carriers (utilizing its chemical stability).
