Activated alumina powder features well-developed mesoporous (pore diameters ranging from 2 to 50nm) and macroporous (>50nm) structures, with a specific surface area of up to 200 to 400 m²/g and a pore volume of 0.3 to 0.8 cm³/g, demonstrating strong adsorption capacity.
Activated alumina have a large number of hydroxyl groups (-OH) on the surface, which can undergo physical or chemical adsorption with molecules in water, gas or solution, and it has certain acidity or alkalinity.
