High hardness and wear resistance
The high hardness of brown corundum gives it excellent wear resistance. In applications such as grinding and lapping, it can effectively remove impurities and burrs from the surface of materials, extend the service life of grinding tools, and improve processing efficiency.
Good toughness
Compared with some other abrasives, brown corundum has better toughness and is less likely to break easily under impact and friction, maintaining the integrity of the abrasive grains and thus better performing grinding and cutting functions.
High-temperature resistance
Brown fused alumina can withstand high-temperature environments, with a maximum operating temperature of up to 1900°C. Therefore, it can be used to manufacture refractory materials such as high-temperature furnace linings and firebricks, maintaining stable performance at high temperatures and reducing cracking and powdering issues.
Corrosion resistance
Brown fused alumina has certain resistance to acids, alkalis, and other chemical substances, allowing it to be used normally in some harsh chemical environments, such as in the manufacturing of chemical equipment components, where it can resist the erosion of chemical media.
Low linear expansion coefficient
Brown fused alumina has a low linear expansion coefficient, and its dimensional changes are small under large temperature variations. This is very important for applications that require high-precision dimensional control, such as mold materials in precision casting.
Good self-sharpening property
When brown corundum breaks, it forms sharp edges and corners. During use, these edges and corners can constantly renew themselves, maintaining good grinding and cutting capabilities, thereby improving work efficiency and reducing the consumption of abrasives.

Brown Fused Alumina Application Fields
Abrasives and grinding tools: Used in the production of grinding wheels, sandpaper, grinding heads, oilstones and other grinding tools, suitable for cutting, polishing and precision grinding of metals (such as stainless steel, titanium alloy) and non-metals (ceramics, glass). Fine-grained brown corundum can also be used in the surface treatment of precision devices such as picture tubes, optical glass and single crystal silicon.
Surface treatment and sandblasting: As an environmentally friendly sandblasting medium, it is widely used in the surface treatment of aluminum/copper profiles and mold cleaning, with functions of decontamination and surface strengthening. In addition, it can be used as an aggregate for laying parking lots, bridge decks and other areas with sharp turns and steep slopes to enhance the wear resistance and anti-slip performance of the ground.
Refractory and metallurgical industries: Used in the manufacture of refractory materials such as high-temperature furnace linings, refractory bricks and castables, which can withstand high temperatures and resist chemical corrosion. In the metallurgical industry, it can be used as a steelmaking flux to remove metal impurities and improve the fluidity and metallurgical properties of metals.
Special industries and emerging fields: In the petroleum and mineral processing industries, it is used as a metal or non-metal filter material to treat wastewater or oil well mud.
