Aluminum hydroxide (Aluminum Hydroxide), with the chemical formula Al(OH)₃ and CAS number 21645-51-2, is a hydroxide of aluminum. It appears as a white, amorphous powder, is odorless and tasteless, and is insoluble in water and ethanol, but soluble in strong acid and alkali solutions. Aluminum hydroxide exhibits the properties of an amphoteric hydroxide, reacting with acids to form aluminum salts and with strong bases to form metaaluminates. At high temperatures, aluminum hydroxide decomposes into aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃) and water, a property that lends itself to widespread application in various industrial fields.
